The San Francisco 49ers have been relatively quiet this offseason on the offensive side of the ball. They signed a backup quarterback, Josh Dobbs, and an offensive tackle, Brandon Parker. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings received a second-round tender, but outside of other rumors involving Brandon Aiyuik, that’s the extent of the news.
As per Imprint Kaboly of The Athletic, the 49ers were one of a small bunch of groups that investigated adding previous Cincinnati Bengals wide recipient Tyler Boyd.
“Boyd has basically had starter interest from the Bosses, Chargers, Dolphins, Lions, and Bengals,” Kaboly composed.
Boyd, a 8-year master, has reliably conveyed, hoarding no less than 600 yards in each year with the exception of one. His champion exhibition in 2018 and 2019, where he outperformed 1,000 yards getting, is a demonstration of his expertise. With a history of playing something like 70% of snaps in six seasons, Boyd’s presence could be a unique advantage for the 49ers. Remaining at 6’2, he impeccably fits the ‘power space’ job that Kyle Shanahan looks for in his offense, possibly adding another dynamic to the group.
This previous season, he had a fruitful excursion against the Niners’ protection, as Boyd got each of the three of his objectives for 40 yards, including a score. That game prompted changes during the 49ers’ auxiliary.
Boyd, still a free specialist, could be an important expansion to the 49ers. He would act as a solid Arrangement B if Jennings somehow managed to sign a proposition sheet somewhere else. While it’s dubious on the off chance that the two could coincide in this offense, as the two players succeed in the space, Boyd’s potential marking offers a consoling fall back for the group.
Spotrac projects Boyd’s yearly compensation at around $8.7 million. Taking into account Boyd neglected to agree with the Pittsburgh Steelers, his asking cost may be excessively high. The more he pauses, the almost certain it is that the number will descend.
