For the 2024 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have put themselves in an intriguing quarterback predicament.
After his unsuccessful time with the Denver Broncos, they signed future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, but just when it appeared they had found a solution to their quarterbacking dilemma, they made another move.
Furthermore, Justin Fields was acquired by Pittsburgh through a trade, leading some to speculate that if Wilson struggles enough, Fields would be ready to take the starting job.
On Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First,” former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez stated that the legendary team might run into issues with this configuration.
“You practically have none when you have two forces in one quarterback room. There is just room for one quarterback. The starting quarterback must view everything within the organisation through his or her eyes, according to Sanchez.
Wilson suffered a terrible season in his first year with the Broncos before being moved to Denver two years ago, following ten fantastic seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
He produced good stats the previous year, but he wasn’t nearly the same player, and Sean Payton, the new head coach, might not have been too fond of him.
Wilson is 35 years old, so one has to wonder how much longer he can play, which raises the possibility that Fields will eventually deny him a starting position.
Fields, the No. 11 choice in the 2021 draft, has fallen short of expectations and, after completing just 60.3% of his throw attempts in his first three years of play, has demonstrated that he is a poor passer.
Although some believe he may still be a good quarterback in the appropriate circumstances, others have come to the conclusion that he isn’t good enough, which is one of the reasons the Bears let him go.
