Quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers will sit out a game while healthy in 2023, something he hasn’t done since Week 2 of his rookie campaign. Purdy has 16 starts in that season. With the 49ers losing one of their three starting quarterbacks from the 2022 season early in the season, Purdy’s career began in an unusual way.
After 16 starts in 2023, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is looking to do something he hasn’t done since the second week of his rookie season — go inactive for a healthy game. Purdyand’s career got off to a rocky start as the 49ers lost one of their three starting quarterbacks in early 2022.
Quarterback Trey Lance suffered a season-ending injury against the Seattle Seahawks in San Francisco and Purdy was the backup in the home opener before leading QB1 in Week 13, that is so far. Purdy was shut down by head coach Kyle Shanahan to keep him healthy for the quickly approaching NFC Sectional Round.

Everyone was dressed and ready to go to prepare for the Rams.

Sam Darnold will take over quarterback duties for the 49ers on Sunday, marking his first regular season start since Week 18 with the Carolina Panthers.
andquot;When I have to go there, I do my best and when I get reps, it always helps me move forward,andquot; Darnold said.
Darnold has played in nine games this season. The games are mostly in hand, and after the QB suffered a concussion against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15, it’s a relief for Purdy.
andquot;Iand#039;I’ve always considered myself a person who just tries to help the team win as much as I can,andquot; Darnold said. andquot;I did that last year (at Carolina) when Baker (Mayfield) was named the starter…I’m just going to continue to embrace that role and do everything I can to help these guys win on Sunday. andquot;
With Darnold under center, Purdy plans to be plugged in as much as possible while the rest of his teammates finish the regular season.
andquot;I know stage speeches and everything,andquot; Purdy said. andquot;This week I’m still going through my process with the setups and reps and everything. I’m doing my part to help Sam and what I see from the sidelines, as well as what he’s done for me all year. I have my headphones on, I’m listening to the presentations and I’m still going through.
