Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has been the subject of debate following his hot start and then a no-show in the second and third quarters in a 22-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins had no answer for Lamb’s talents as he started the game on fire, hauling in three catches for 93 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter and a half before not being targeted until late in the fourth quarter. Getting the catches and yards is great, but Lamb is more concerned with how the team succeeds than with how he performs… even though getting the ball in his hands usually leads to positive things for the Cowboys.
While Lamb claims he isn’t concerned with his stats and prefers to focus on team success, the rest of us may have one eye on his stats this week against the Detroit Lions. Why, you ask? Lamb is just three receptions away from breaking Michael Irvin’s Cowboys record of 111 in 1995. Could something like that happen versus Detroit? “I hope we win – then it means a lot more,” Lamb said. So there’s a good probability it’ll happen against the Lions. Oh, and Lamb is also on pace to break the receiving yards recorded
“I just know what I can contribute to the team and the type of player I am,” he stated. “So I just try to put myself in the best position possible, help the team… and I like to win overall.”
“It’s not so much the statistics… I simply enjoy winning. I have a strong fixation with winning.”
