The Seattle Seahawks released a statement when Pete Carroll was revealed to be switching from head coach to advisor.

Pete Carroll led Seattle to five NFC West division victories and a record of 147-98-1 in his 14 seasons as head coach. Above all, he guided the team to two Super Bowl berths and a Super Bowl championship.
This season, the Seahawks finished 9-8 and were not in the playoffs.
