Despite reports connecting him to a move to Real Madrid, Julian Alvarez claims he is’very happy’ at Manchester City.
The World Champion for both club and country scored twice and assisted in City’s Club World Cup final win over Fluminense on Friday. Despite appearing in the majority of City’s games this season, he only plays as a striker when Erling Haaland is unavailable or rested.
Alvarez has piqued the curiosity of rival clubs and has been linked with a move. Real Madrid has been identified as a possible landing spot for the 23-year-old. However, following the Club World Cup final, Alvarez stated his joy at City and his desire to continue winning trophies at the Etihad.
“The truth is that I am very happy at Manchester City,” remarked the Spaniard. “I’ve been with the club for a little over a year. “I am very pleased with everything we have accomplished.”
“They helped me a lot last season and from the beginning.” I’ve matured a lot as a player and as a person, therefore I’m content with the club. And, of course, one continues to fantasise about winning more trophies. Now we want to win them all over again!”
“To be – in a short time – world champion with the club and with the Argentinian national team is a source of pride,” he said. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid, and having done it gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
“The truth is that at only 23 years old, I have achieved the most important titles that a player can achieve.” But my approach is to keep doing what I love, playing football, and what makes me happy is being on the pitch.
“Of course, you have to compete to win.” And the ambition now is to keep doing the same thing and attempt to win [these titles] again, because the feeling of having accomplished all of this is really satisfying.”
