Marco Bezzecchi: “I Want to Focus on What I Can Control” – A Vision for the 2025 MotoGP Title

In the fast-paced and fiercely competitive world of MotoGP, 2024 was a defining year for Marco Bezzecchi, a year of both growth and challenge. With each twist of the throttle and every lean into the corners, Bezzecchi’s path has been one of relentless determination, showing the MotoGP world that he is not just another rider in the field—he’s a serious contender for the championship title. As the year comes to an end, Bezzecchi has set his sights firmly on 2025, focusing on what he can control in his pursuit of MotoGP glory.

The Rise of a Contender: 2024 in Review

2024 was a season marked by numerous highs and a few lows for Bezzecchi. Riding for the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, he demonstrated significant prowess on his Ducati, consistently battling with top-tier riders and regularly securing podium finishes. His aggressive yet calculated riding style earned him praise from fans and pundits alike, establishing him as a formidable force in the MotoGP paddock.

One of the key moments of the 2024 season came with his triumph in several Grands Prix, showcasing his ability to handle the pressure of leading races and managing his tires in critical moments. These victories were not only a testament to his skill but also his growing maturity as a rider. However, the season was not without setbacks. Mechanical failures and a few costly errors reminded him that success in MotoGP often hinges on factors beyond sheer speed and talent.

Reflecting on the past year, Bezzecchi remains proud of his progress, emphasizing that every challenge has been a stepping stone toward his ultimate goal. “2024 was a year of learning,” he stated in a recent interview. “I made some mistakes, and there were times when things were out of my control, but I’ve become a stronger rider because of it. Now, I’m focused on taking the next step.”

The Focus: “What I Can Control”

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Bezzecchi’s mantra is clear: focus on what he can control. In a sport where unpredictable elements—weather, technical glitches, crashes—can derail even the best-laid plans, Bezzecchi has chosen to center his efforts on aspects within his influence. This means rigorous preparation, honing his skills, staying physically fit, and maintaining a positive mindset.

The young Italian rider is well aware that to compete for a MotoGP title, mental resilience is just as crucial as physical fitness. This off-season, Bezzecchi has dedicated himself to improving his mental focus through mindfulness and concentration exercises, ensuring that he remains calm and collected even in high-pressure situations. “I can’t control the rain or what other riders do, but I can control my reaction to those things,” he emphasized. “It’s about staying sharp and minimizing mistakes. I know I have the speed; now, it’s about refining the details.”

Training camps in the off-season have also included intense physical conditioning. Bezzecchi has always been known for his fitness, but he understands that a MotoGP title requires peak physical endurance to manage the grueling demands of a season that spans continents and climates. His fitness regimen now includes a mix of strength training, cardio, and targeted exercises to improve core stability and flexibility, all aimed at giving him an edge when it matters most.

    Building Trust with the Team

A crucial component of Bezzecchi’s 2025 title ambitions is his relationship with the Mooney VR46 Racing Team. Trust and communication with his crew chief and engineers have become a priority for the Italian, as he knows that a united team is essential for translating his potential into results on the track. In recent months, he has spent extra time in the garage, not only analyzing data but also getting to know his team members on a personal level. This camaraderie has already paid dividends, as Bezzecchi feels more in sync with the bike than ever before.

One area he particularly focused on in 2024 and plans to carry into 2025 is tire management. Bezzecchi’s ability to maintain tire life while pushing the limits of his Ducati has been a standout aspect of his riding. By closely collaborating with his team, he’s working on refining this strength, ensuring he has the balance to maintain speed without sacrificing grip in the latter stages of races. “Understanding the bike’s behavior and giving precise feedback to my engineers are things I can control,” he said. “We’ve made progress in tire management, and I’m confident we can do even better next year.”

The Ducati Factor: A Machine Ready for Glory

Ducati has been a dominant force in MotoGP in recent years, and Bezzecchi’s 2025 title hopes are undoubtedly linked to the capabilities of his machine. Known for its raw power and straight-line speed, the Ducati also requires finesse to harness its full potential. Bezzecchi has demonstrated a unique ability to extract performance from the bike, especially in challenging conditions.

Heading into 2025, Ducati is expected to bring further upgrades to the VR46 machines, and Bezzecchi is eager to adapt to any changes. This adaptability is part of his philosophy of controlling what he can—staying updated with every evolution of the bike’s setup, mastering new components, and ensuring he’s always one step ahead in understanding the Ducati’s behavior. “I know Ducati will give us a fantastic machine,” he said confidently. “It’s up to me to make the most of it.”

Learning from the Best: A Tight-Knit Paddock

In the MotoGP paddock, friendships and rivalries often intertwine. Bezzecchi has the privilege of training alongside some of the best in the sport, including his mentor Valentino Rossi. As part of the VR46 Academy, he continues to benefit from Rossi’s wealth of experience, tapping into the insights of a rider who has won multiple world titles. “Valentino always reminds me to focus on my own path,” Bezzecchi shared. “He’s been a huge influence, and his advice is always about controlling the things within my power, not getting caught up in the noise around me.”

Other MotoGP contenders, like Pecco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo, have also shared their experiences of being in the title hunt. Observing their successes and struggles has provided Bezzecchi with valuable lessons, which he hopes to apply in the upcoming season. “I respect my competitors a lot, but my main challenge is always myself,” he explained. “I want to beat my previous best, race by race.”

Setting Sights on 2025: A Season of No Regrets

Bezzecchi’s goal for 2025 is clear: he wants to fight for the title. But more than the trophy itself, he is driven by a desire to leave no regrets on the track. He knows the pressure will be intense, with fans, sponsors, and the media watching his every move. Yet, his focus remains on personal growth and maximizing his performance.

“I’m not obsessed with the championship. Of course, I want to win, but my main focus is to do my best every time I’m on the bike,” Bezzecchi concluded. “I want to look back and know I gave everything, regardless of the outcome. That’s what I can control—my effort, my dedication, and my love for racing.”

As the 2025 season approaches, the MotoGP world waits with anticipation. Marco Bezzecchi’s commitment to excellence, his focus on what he can control, and his relentless pursuit of improvement make him one of the most exciting riders to watch. With the right mindset, a competitive bike, and the support of a dedicated team, Bezzecchi is poised to be a strong title contender—a rider ready to take on the world, one corner at a time.
