“The documentary was a kind of therapy for me,” Ullrich said in a heartfelt interview with WDR, revealing that he now feels ready to discuss his past openly, especially with his children. The German cyclist, once hailed as one of the greatest of his era, admitted that the era in which he raced was marred by widespread doping practices that were well-known but rarely addressed publicly. “People have to understand that doping was systemic. The sponsors knew everything. I was well paid, although I wouldn’t call it silence.
