Spain’s Marc Marquez, the six-time MotoGP title holder, will join the Ducati plant group in 2025 and collaborate with defending champ Francesco Bagnaia, the Italian producer said.
Marquez, who at present rides for Gresini – Ducati’s satellite group, which he joined toward the beginning of 2024 after 11 seasons at Honda – will supplant Italian rider Enea Bastianini on a two-year agreement, the group declared on Wednesday.
Marquez, 31, has not come out on top in a race since October 2021 and lies third in the standings at the halfway mark of this season.
“I’m exceptionally glad to have the option to wear the red shades of the production line Ducati group in MotoGP next season,” Marquez said.
“I’m glad to have the option to make this large stride in 2025 and appreciative for the trust Ducati has put in me.”
Marquez’s landing in the authoritative title holders was broadly expected after the declaration on Monday that remarkable new Jorge Martin was joining Aprilia from Ducati-Pramac, one more of Ducati’s satellite groups.
Marquez, on 136 focuses, is at present third in the 2024 MotoGP Riders’ Big showdown standings, behind Martin, 171 focuses, and Bagnaia, on 153 focuses.
