Kenny Pickett seems to have left out a crucial component from his goodbye speech to Pittsburgh.
The 25-year-old quarterback did not mention the Steelers, who dealt him to the Eagles on Friday after just two seasons, as he looked back on his football career in Pittsburgh, which included his time as a student at the University of Pittsburgh, on Instagram on Sunday.
“Thank you, Pittsburgh! My life completely changed seven years ago when I moved to this city. I’m thankful for everyone who helped me along the journey and for the incredible people I had the good fortune to meet. I created relationships and lifelong friendships that I will always treasure, Pickett wrote next to a picture of himself from a Steelers game.
I am thrilled to be able to play for the team that first introduced me to the game as a child, and I am honoured to have this as my next professional opportunity. Go, Eagles!
From 2017 to 21, Pickett, a native of New Jersey, was a player with the Panthers.
The Steelers subsequently picked him with the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in 25 games with the team over the course of two seasons, throwing for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
Only a few days after the organisation decided to sign veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract, the Steelers traded Pickett.
