The quarterfinal matchup between Villa and Lille in the Europa Conference League has been set.
On Thursday, April 11, Unai Emery’s team will play the first leg at home against the French team. On April 18, they will cross the channel for the second game.
After winning the tie, the victorious team will host Fenerbahce or Olympiacos for the first leg of a semi-final on May 2 and travel for the second leg on May 9.
Lille, who are presently ranked fourth in the French First Division, defeated Sturm Graz, an Austrian team, 4-1 to advance to the Conference League’s final eight. They will play Villa in European competition for the second time; in a 2002 Intertoto Cup, Lille prevailed 3-1 overall.
After defeating Ajax 4-0 overall in the semifinals, Villa is still the favourite to win the Conference League according to bookies.
