Johnson shared a video on the team’s choice, stating that they were committed to adopting a throwback look that was evocative of their 1980s and 1990s uniforms. Against the Bills on opening night and on a few other times last season, the Jets wore these alternate white jerseys.
However, the timing of the announcement caused some people to take notice. Just minutes after Super Bowl LVIII ended and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25β22 in overtime, the Jets had carefully timed their social media post to hint to their impending uniform alterations.
