San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced the injuries during a conference call late Tuesday night.Christian McCaffrey will not practice this week due to leg cancer.
Shanahan said McCaffrey will return to practice next week.Team captains George Kittle and Arik Armstead return to practice this week. Kittle is doing “much better” with back pain. Armstead “looks good.”We never got the details of Armstead’s injury.
Shanahan always called it either the knee or the leg. Kyle still wouldn’t allow himself to get hurt when asked if Ariku has plantar fasciitis:”I just know it’s his leg and his knee. I don’t know how to pronounce that word you just said.

Since the start of Week 16, wide receiver Jauan Jennings has been under the concussion protocol. According to Shanahan, Jennings and Ambry Thomas, the starting cornerback, are formally cleared to resume practice. Due to hand surgery, Thomas was sidelined for Week 18.
Due to a knee injury sustained in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams, edge rusher Clelin Ferrell will be sidelined for a few weeks. “It’s possible to get him back sometime in the playoffs,” Shanahan stated. Ferrell would miss at least one game, Shanahan later confirmed.
When asked about Drake Jackson’s circumstances and whether he was nearing a comeback, Shanahan answered.
