Ezekiel Elliott of the New England Patriots eloquently summed up his team’s chilly experience Sunday in a 17-3 loss to the New York Jets in Week 18.
Several inches of snow fell on Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as the two teams competed on flaky white grass.
Elliott was asked about the bizarre weather conditions on the field after the game. The 8-year pro emphasised that it’s a much harsher experience than many people, including his younger self, believe.
“When I was younger, I always wanted to play a snowball fight.” “Then I played a game in the snow and thought, that kind of sucked,” Elliott explained.
Elliott had by far the most yards from scrimmage for the Patriots. However, that is more of an indictment of the Patriots’ sluggish offence, which managed only 176 total yards rushing and receiving. Elliott gained 54 yards on 13 carries. He also had 5 receptions for 27 yards.
With 178 yards on 37 carries, Jets running back Breece Hall outgained the entire Patriots offence.
The Jets’ victory stopped a 15-game losing streak to the Patriots, who dropped to 4-13 on the season.
The last time the Jets beat the Patriots was back in December of 2015. Elliott had just finished his junior season at Ohio State, when he was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. He was apparently wondering about playing in the snow as well.
