Udonis Haslem, a Miami Heat great, will have his No. 40 jersey retired by the team. The ceremony will take place during halftime of the game against the Atlanta Hawks on January 19.
Haslem played his entire 20-year NBA career with the Heat. Only Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) and Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks) have played for the same team for as many or more years.
Haslem won three NBA championships with the Heat while also acting as the team’s locker room leader. He left the NBA following the 2022-23 season, having averaged 7.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in his career.
Haslem stayed with the Heat after retiring and is now the franchise’s vice president of basketball development.
“It’s about a great legacy, a Thank You moment that has been earned over 20 years of being an incredible championship player and, most importantly, the best leader,” said Pat Riley, the president of the Miami Heat.
